What we are dealing with here is, of course, a UFO — an unidentified flying object, or, as it is commonly called in Norwegian, a flying saucer.
For about three weeks now, otherwise sensible and trustworthy people from Åsbygda have repeatedly observed strange phenomena in the autumn sky. Phenomena that no one has been able to provide any reasonable explanation for.
Those who first set off this wave of reports and testimonies about unusual sightings were two students at a school for the hearing impaired.
One afternoon at the end of October, they were walking up the small hill towards the school. Then, according to their own account, they suddenly witnessed something that could serve as the opening scene of almost any science fiction story.
They have told us that they saw a glowing object coming from the north. That is, from Jevnaker. It came in on an arc towards the school grounds, which are located up here. It stopped above the ground and slowly descended. There it remained for approximately ten seconds before taking off again, moving diagonally upwards along the treetops, and then disappearing behind the ridge.

“Last year, in the spring of 1976, we had something similar on Bømlo, at Espevær on the west coast. The impressions there had exactly the same contours and the same shape, but they were 26 metres long. So there is a significant difference in size, but the pattern was the same.”
“But if this is a creature from another planet, why do you think it would leave its footprints here in Åsbygda?”
“That is difficult to say. We do have areas here that are quite isolated, you could say. At the same time, there are a few houses scattered around. But exactly why they seem to be concentrating on Ringerike now in the autumn is hard to say. There have been many observations here recently, but I think it will take a lot to find a solution.”
